The Loch Ness Monster

Loch Ness is the second largest Scottish loch by surface area at 22 sq mi (56 km2) after Loch Lomond, but due to its great depth, it is the largest by volume in the British Isles. Its deepest point is 755 ft (230 m). However, Loch Ness is synonymous with Nessie - the Loch Ness Monster!

Nessie is without doubt, the world's most famous mythical monster. Accounts of encounters with the beast stem as far back as AD 565 and continue to this day. Each year, people report sightings. Some have been proven hoaxes, others simply mistakes in perception or natural objects, whereas a handful still provide us with enough intrigue to dare wonder if there is indeed something lurking in the murky depths of Loch Ness.
